the truly scary part about this is that i wouldn't doubt for a second if the majority of US citizens (at least, what... 51% maybe?) think that this is a great idea.

no offense intended. i just think that large portions of our country (on either side of the great divide, true) are all-too happy to accept this kind of government mandated invasion of privacy. fear works wonders.
anyway... on a similar, though at least somewhat humorous note - how's this for irony?

And you are right about how many people of all political leanings are so willing to surrender their freedom for a false sense of security.
They deserve neither.
