I don't remember where I first saw the term asshat. It was somewhere on the Internet. Probably in a Usenet newsgroup.
I fell in love with the word instantly. It rolls off the tongue easily. And it seems like a classier way of insulting someone than calling them an asshole.
Many have claimed credit for originating the word asshat, but now there is a precise history of the word's origin.

I prefer to use ass-clown.. Stolen from the world of professional wrestling. What can I say?

If you really dig the usage, you can still buy my Zero Tolerance for Asshats shirts and stuff.

I personally prefer more descriptive insults--they make me feel better. You vile piece of steaming cow dung for example.

I'd forgotten all about that word but you're right, it's awesome.
I should use that in place of a different I use...which my Mother hates...lol. Maybe she won't find it as offensive. :)
