I'm in a really crappy mood this afternoon. I shouldn't be. It is a beautiful day. It's sunny and the temperature is in the 60s. But still, I'm feeling antsy.
Alison and I got out after lunch and ran some errands. The longer we rode around, with her driving, and me in the passenger seat, the worse I felt. I hate being dependent on anyone for assistance. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate that she is willing to help. But it isn't easy for me to accept help, even from someone I love so much. Fucking Y chromosome.
Before we left I got a call from the doctor's office confirming my appointment for next Tuesday. The day the cast is supposed to come off. That should have made me happy, but all it did was remind me that I would be dependent on others for another 4 days.
I'm also worried that the doctor will decide that the cast needs to stay on for several more weeks.
I want to get the Dremel tool out and cut this damn cast off right now.

Think of it this way: my driving around everywhere means that I am learning the city that much faster.
Wanna get some coffee somewhere? :)

Do it...cut the thing off and video it for all us!

As your attorney I advise you to allow Alison to drive on an as-close-to-even basis as possible even after your cast comes off.
Then if you should ever need help again (heaven forbid), it won't feel so foreign.
But basically, you've been alone way too long. You'll get used to TLC right quick. Sometimes it's good to receive.

I understand how you feel--let yourself be grumpy, just don't take it out on anyone.

Wouldn't it be worse, though, if you got it off TOO early and then had to get the damn thing put back on after a momentary taste of freedom?

Okay this is so cool I have to share it. Maybe it will help.
My time away has flown by. So to me, I'm thinking 'holy cow his cast is coming off already?! he just got it!' See? So do that. Get your mind off it. Pretend it's always been there or only been there a day or two. Before you know it, you'll be free of it :)
Not sure if this will work but it's worth a shot. Best remedy though is to forget it's there and coast. Pretend you're on vacation and Ali is your chauffeur ;)
