Pre-Eclipse Moon

Clicking the image will take you to its Flickr page. You can see a larger version there.

I'm not sure I will get out there during the eclipse. It is wickedly cold here tonight. I just wanted to test some camera settings to see how they would work. I took this without using a tripod.

I think it came out pretty well, so I might run back out later and take some more.

Exposure Program:  Manual
Exposure:  0.003 sec (1/400)
Aperture: f/11
Focal Length: 300 mm
ISO Speed: 400
Exposure Bias: 0/6 EV
Metering Mode:  Spot

I just came inside from looking at the eclipse. It's so cool!

It did come out very well. Lots of good detail in this pic.

the black sky blows me away. with the eclipse, i was expecting to see stars. we had a really clear view...but i honestly didn't see any.

anyway, allan, this is gorgeous. makes me feel small.

I think it's exceptional.
