Quarter Shadow

I found another halfway decent photo of the eclipse on the 20th. I don't think it is as good as the others, but it seems to have attracted some attention on Flickr, having made it into Flickr Explore.

Coming Out Of Totality

Clicking the image will take you to its Flickr page. You can see a larger version there.

I think I took about 80 photos of the eclipse up to just before totality. Then the cold ran me inside.

I wasn't happy with any of them, other than the one I posted earlier.

Just as totality was ending, I went back outside with the tripod, and took about 6 more photos. This was the best one I got.

I hope the next total eclipse, three years from now, occurs during warmer weather.

Exposure:  1.6 sec (8/5)
Aperture: f/5.3
Focal Length: 270 mm
ISO Speed: 400
Exposure Bias: 0/6 EV
Metering Mode:  Spot

Pre-Eclipse Moon

I'm not sure I will get out there during the eclipse. It is wickedly cold here tonight. I just wanted to test some camera settings to see how they would work. I took this without using a tripod.

I think it came out pretty well, so I might run back out later and take some more.

Could You Pass 8th Grade Science?

I did. The first time was a long time ago. And I just passed again.

You Passed 8th Grade Science
Congratulations, you got 8/8 correct!

But, along with Steve at Modulator and Phil at Bad Astronomy, I wonder whether the authors could pass their own quiz.
